Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by veteran New York-based MMA journalist Jim Genia.

Tuesday ended the most difficult chapter in the eight-year odyssey towards sanctioned MMA in New York, as the State Assembly voted 113-25 to legalize the sport. Breen and Genia, who has expertly covered the push toward regulation in the state, talk about the farcical and amusing political show that took place on Tuesday, what bureaucratic steps come next to clear the way for the UFC to run at Madison Square Garden, and when that card comes, what fighters might find themselves on it, from Jon Jones to Chris Weidman to Jimmie Rivera.

Breen and Genia also discuss whether Bellator MMA will beat the UFC to the punch by running the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, if Zuffa will stay true to its word of delivering four events per year to New York state and for how long.
