Every Wednesday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by Bleacher Report MMA's Jeremy Botter.
Before this week's Carlos Condit-Martin Kampmann and Anthony Pettis-Benson Henderson rematches inside the Octagon, Breen and Botter assess the massive slate of MMA rematches on deck foe 2013, also including Anderson Silva-Chris Weidman, Miesha Tate-Ronda Rousey, Dan Henderson-Vitor Belfort, Eddie Alvarez-Michael Chandler 2 and many others. The two discuss the history of rematches in the UFC and MMA at large, why rematches might be more commonplace in MMA and what makes this particular set of second go-arounds more intriguing than your average set of potential revenge matches.
Breen and Botter also discuss whether rematches like Pettis-Henderson and Alvarez-Chandler can live up to the originals, which fight of all the rematches might be the best bout and which fighters that haven't even squared off yet might be set for rematch-laden rivalries in the next few years.
Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
