Dmitry Bivol was sensational in the main event of the ShoBox: The New Generation card Friday night as he thoroughly dominated Samuel Clarkson before knocking him senseless in spectacular fashion. Bivol never allowed Clarkson to get into a rhythm and nearly had him out in the first.
The co-feature inside the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Md., saw Malik Hawkins tear up Carlos Soto (13-1-2, 7 KOs) so badly that the fight was stopped in between rounds two and three. Hawkins (11-0, 8 KOs) battered his Mexican counterpart from the start and busted up his face. A gnarly welt formed over Soto’s left eye and when the second round was over, the ringside physician deemed him unfit to continue.
In the first bout on the Showtime-televised main card, super bantamweight prospect Glenn Dezurn won an eight-round unanimous decision over Leroy Davila. The action was superb throughout but Dezurn landed the better, more telling blows. In the end, all three ringside judges favored Dezurn (9-0, 6 KOs) via tallies of 78-74. Davila fell to 5-1 with 3 KOs.
Hasim Rahman Jr. looked like his famous former world champion father by knocking fellow heavyweight Ralph Alexander in just 40 seconds. Rahman Jr. trapped Alexander (0-1) in a corner and unloaded a storm of punches until the ref stopped it. The non-televised bout was young Rahman’s pro debut.
