Couture told a Los Vegas radio station last week that he had no fights scheduled for 2011 yet; instead, he’ll be shooting a “small part” in a Bruce Willis film titled “Set-Up” and hopes to begin an “Expendables” sequel immediately after.
Good for him, too bad for us. At 48, Couture is more or less in the last lap of his athletic career and could probably carve out another couple of wins as Post-Its to an already-impressive legacy. He would almost certainly make more money in fights than in film shoots, but the idea is that acting can see him through the rest of his life. If you can lay that foundation now, you’re better off for it.
The film shoots only account for the first half of the year; a match with Mirko "Cro Cop" later on would probably do nice numbers overseas. Either way, he’ll fight the year he turns 50. How could he not?
