Mixed martial arts promotion Combate Americas will make its New Mexico debut on June 28 with a card headlined by its first-ever featherweight championship bout.
A featured bout on the Rio Rancho, New Mexico, card pits flyweight Jaime Alvarez against Joby Sanchez. Alvarez (8-1) is a Miami, Florida, native on a four-fight winning streak. The fourth of these victories came on January 25 with a round-two knockout of Jorge Calvo Martin. Albuquerque, New Mexico's Sanchez (12-5) has finished the last eight of 12 fights by way of TKO or submission.
For the introductory featherweight championship, Combate has paired Roswell, New Mexico's Andres Quintana with Bruno Cannetti of Argentina.
The remainder of fights added to the bout sheet fill out the preliminary card. Albuquerque middleweights Roman Alcantar (6-1) and Juan Ramon Grano Medina (6-4-1) will collide on their own home turf.
Javier Cepeda (1-0) will look to add to his MMA record with a flyweight tilt against Jesus Villegas, who makes his professional debut with Combate Americas. Also making their pro entrances on the Combate New Mexico card will be Daniel Martinez and Patrick Ayala, who will face each other in a welterweight bout.
Looking for her first professional win, strawweight Shyann Farmer, 0-2, will represent Alamogordo, New Mexico, when she faces newcomer Criszaida Adames.
