Lyoto Machida will face the most difficult test of his career when he challenges Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship in the UFC 140 main event on Dec. 10 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. He plans to train with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in Belem, Brazil, and, according to a recent interview with Sherdog.com, his former coach at the X-Gym, Josuel Distak, will keep the doors open for him in Rio de Janeiro, as well:
“As a fan, I’m cheering for Lyoto. I saw his MMA debut, and I’ve been following him ever since. In my opinion, the best sparring partner for him is Anderson, who has pretty similar features to Jones. The X-Gym doors will always be open for him, and he will have a good support system here, with guys like [former Strikeforce champions] Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ [Souza] and Rafael ‘Feijao’ [Cavalcante].”
