In one of the most eagerly-anticipated showdowns in the boxing world in the early stages of 2016, reigning IBF super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton triumphed over rival Scott Quigg via split decision.

The fight was largely uneventful as Quigg (32-1-2, 23 KOs) was cautious for most of the bout, allowing Frampton to dictate the pace.

The Belfast fighter out-boxed Quigg early and often and pressed the action, but Quigg just couldn’t things going until the 10th.

The Englishman rocked Frampton in the 11th but he couldn’t put the undefeated fighter down or out.

In the end, Frampton improved to 22-0 with 14 KOs by edging his foe 116-112 (twice) and 113-115. The victory also allowed Frampton to claim Quigg’s WBA 122-pound title.
