Premier Boxing Champions announced Friday afternoon that undefeated knockout artist Murat Gassiev will square off against fellow contender Jordan Shimmell in the main event of a PBC on FS1’s Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays card, which will go down on May 17. The event will be held inside the Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minn., and will be televised live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
“I have seen Jordan Shimmell in the ring and I feel like this is a good fight for me,” said Gassiev. “I'm looking forward to getting back in the ring after the mistake I made last fight. I'm going to be real sharp on May 17 and I will not disappoint.”
Shimmell (20-1, 16 KOs), meanwhile, has looked equally solid each time he fights, though he dropped a decision to Thomas. A four-time Golden Gloves champion, Shimmell has also conquered a number of credible opponents already, including Damon McCreary, Epifanio Mendoza, Galen Brown and Jonathan Corn.
“I'm excited to get back in the ring and fight in another televised bout,” said Shimmell. “I know I'm in there with a tough, strong opponent, but with my skills and ability it shouldn't be a problem. As long as I fight smart and do the things I've been training to do, I will come out with the win.”
Also slated for the marquee is an eight-round heavyweight encounter between Wes Nofire (19-0, 15 KOs) and Joey Abell (31-9, 29 KOs). Javontae Starks (13-1, 7 KOs) will lock horns with Yordenis Ugas (15-3, 7 KOs) in an eight-round junior middleweight clash to round out the main card.
