Bjorn Rebney: Tito Ortiz Not Putting Body Through Hell Preparing for Alexander Shlemenko

Bjorn Rebney, on “Beatdown,” discussing whether he has concerns about Ortiz not being able to fight Shlemenko on May 17:

“Who knows? It’s a great question. Look, Tito was asking me for the fight repeatedly for about four months. Come this July it will have been two years since he stepped foot in a cage. He has not been training religiously hard. He hasn’t put his body through a lot of different damage. He’s in good shape. He’s walking around now at about 230, but Tito always stays in good physical condition. … He’s heavily motivated. He’s got to get into the cage and fight at some point, and he wants this fight. He’s excited about it. He thinks he’s going to win the fight. I think it’s a pick-em fight. I love the fact that it’s got that freakshow element to it, but I think it’s a complete pick-em fight. … I don’t know. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I would love to see it happen, but I don’t know much more than you guys do. I think Tito’s in good shape. I know he’s training the right way. I know he’s not putting his body through hell right now to try to get ready. I don’t think he plans on standing up and trying to strike his way to a victory over three rounds against Alexander Shlemenko. We’ll see, but my anticipation is it’s going to happen.”
