Lyoto Machida’s fighting style can be a puzzling one in the MMA world.
Machida has managed to successfully integrate karate into mixed martial arts and has used his array of kicks to counterstrike his opponents and lull them into his rhythm.
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones believes he has the answer for the riddle that it Machida, and he plans to defend his title when they meet in the main event of UFC 140 on Saturday in Toronto.
“It’s interesting because everyone keeps asking me, ‘How are you going to solve Lyoto Machida’s puzzle?’ It’s been solved already,” Jones said. “I have blueprints. I really believe I have more technique than he has, more skills, more tools. I can fight southpaw and do the same techniques I do orthodox. That’s something he can’t do. I have a really good ground game and I have a third-degree black belt in wrestling, even though that’s not possible. I really feel I’m the one he should be worried about.”
